free to roam through the gates of perception

Once we get a taste of the freedom that comes with letting go of our stuff – anger, righteousness, jealousy, our need to be in control, the judging mind, just to name a few – we start to look at those things in new ways. That is the teaching of being in the moment. For someone who understands that this precious birth is an opportunity to awaken, is an opportunity to know God, all of life becomes an instrument for getting there – marriage, family, job, play, travel, all of it. You just spiritualize your life. Christ said to be in the world but not of the world. You are simultaneously living your story line – keeping your ground, remembering your zip code – and having your awareness free and spacious, not caught in anything, just delighting in the richness of this timeless moment.

to get this far in life & the spiritual path requires an easing of our arsenal of protection and stories…..may we find the courage again and again from each other and the beauty of this life……in vulnerability lies our strength…..

Trungpa Rinpoche once asked a group of students, “What do you do when you get squeezed? What do you do when things are unbearable?” We all sat there, wondering what to say. Then he called on us one by one. We were so scared that we answered very genuinely. Almost all of us said something to the effect that we just completely fell apart, forgot about practice altogether, and became totally habitual in our reactions. Needless to say, after that we noticed very clearly what we did when we felt attacked, betrayed, or confused, when we found situations unbearable or unacceptable. We began to really notice what we did. Did we close down, or did we open up? Did we feel resentful and bitter, or did we soften? Did we become wiser or more stupid? As a result of our pain, did we know more about what it is to be human, or did we know less? Were we more critical of our world or more generous?….Pema Chodron

can the heart be laid bare?

I am smiling at myself today
There’s no wish left in this heart
Or perhaps there is no heart left
Free from all desire
I sit quietly like Earth
My silent cry echoes like thunder
Throughout the universe
I am not worried about it
I know it will be heard by no one
Except me……Rumi

  1. Love this…… When I turned on my phone this morning, a note from my brother “call me”. And so, we filled the hour’s drive. Holding on to things that only muddle our life seems easy…..but in the surrender, our freedom, learning that we never ever lose love…… And there are depths where words can hardly breathe. ❤

    • Surrender may be a truly holy state…..it happens when the light is right or perfectly wrong…..when the day is a gift and when we are the givers…….love big Bobbie……
