light…dark corners & word piles….

tricky light....

In ‘no mind’ there is no intent. The activity, whatever it may be, is not forced or strained. The art just slips through the intellectual filters, without conscious effort & without planning. This functioning of ‘no mind’ is sometimes called the action of no action. This is the Taoist concept of wu-wei: a continuous stream of spontaneity that emerges from the rhythm of circumstances. ‘No mind’ is living in the moment.

This is the Zen Aesthetic……John Daido Loori

Like looking for something you can’t find or forgetting what you were looking for or knowing you will never find the thing you’re looking for or dreading the long search ahead for whatever you’re looking for or being frightened by how you will change when you do find what you’re looking for & going round & round from one of these thoughts to the other & then suddenly it all washes away & you’ve found what you were looking for & you don’t remember having any of those thoughts…..

this is what it’s like when a sliver of light comes through in art-making….seemingly sudden yet it was there all along….tucked in dark corners…

in a heap of discarded words, thoughts, & plans….

waiting…for you to just let go….of the dark…no words for awhile…
