the insanity embraced in the fierce zen of love

When the world and its suffering are very much with us, to consider that ‘it’s all perfect’ seems little short of profanity, a gross polyanna-ish rationalization. On the other hand, in our more transcendent moments, our fears and sense of urgency about the human condition seem poignant at best, reflecting only our lack of faith. How can we find a place within ourselves to stand, from which we can integrate these disparate worldviews, so that we need not embrace one of these truths, and the openness of heart that engages us fully with our humanity? It is in living the answer to this question, day by day, that we discover the meaning of true compassion and recognize, from within, our own innate generosity that arises spontaneously out of equanimity. When we rest in that point of tension or balance, we also find a new intensity and richness in each moment. For, to find that point, we must quiet our minds. The quieter our minds get, the more we seem to open our hearts in ever expanding circles to embrace all beings with love. When the heart is very open, we see all beings as our beloved family…..Ram Dass

this conscientious love recognizes the hurt heart……pushes away judgment and calls out our angels….this is amazing love….self-surrender and heartache of the deepest, most melancholy and brilliant source…..may we seek this love, so fine and so rare…..

The snowfall is so silent,
so slow,
bit by bit, with delicacy
it settles down on the earth
and covers over the fields.
The silent snow comes down
white and weightless;
snowfall makes no noise,
falls as forgetting falls,
flake after flake.
It covers the fields gently
while frost attacks them
with its sudden flashes of white;
covers everything with its pure
and silent covering;
not one thing on the ground
anywhere escapes it.
And wherever it falls it stays,
content and gay,
for snow does not slip off
as rain does,
but it stays and sinks in.
The flakes are skyflowers,
pale lilies from the clouds,
that wither on earth.
They come down blossoming
but then so quickly
they are gone;
they bloom only on the peak,
above the mountains,
and make the earth feel heavier
when they die inside.
Snow, delicate snow,
that falls with such lightness
on the head,
on the feelings,
come and cover over the sadness
that lies always in my reason.

….Miguel de Unamuno

may we remember to take the last bloom home…..

We come to embody the purpose we chose to accept before birth when we put aside our dual desire for recognition and prominence and instead embrace the multifaceted glories of selflessness. To do what we love for the benefit of others rather than to achieve prosperity is to make the most of the talents and aptitudes the universe has granted us, for it is when we are giving that we feel most useful. Each charitable act we perform demonstrates that we possess the ability to change the lives of others for the better and are fulfilling our purpose with our choices and deeds. We need not doubt the usefulness of our skills because we clearly see the effect we have on the world around us. Your kindheartedness will help you fulfill your inner needs today by giving you a means to live your destiny……daily om

  1. Amen, Blue (and a little woman). Regardless our abilities, there is always someone to be blessed with them. Our falacy (ego) comes in questioning our own divine nature to simply love ~ to open wide and take in the world. Thank you for this loving reminder to allow. ~ Love, Bobbie

  2. Great quote by Ram Dass… indeed true love and compassion embraces the light and dark of us, our moments of greatest rapture and deepest despair.

    Also struck tonight by Miguel’s words, “snowfall makes no noise / falls as forgetting falls / flake after flake”… God, that’s just how it is.

    • paradox & serendipity…..cycles of life….open & close…ebb & flow…..glad the poem resonates….I loved it too….’come & cover over the sadness’….you’re right….that’s just how it is…..may the snow be soft….thank you…
