A lot of what goes on in the human realm could be boiled down to a bunch of treading water. If you’re treading water on top of a lake, and you’re just splashing about and trying to do anything you can to make sure that you never sink below the surface—and on the surface there are lots of other people thrashing about- it all seems very compelling.
