During the last hurricane,

I saw neighbors, on the news,

passing sandbags in a line to

build a wall against the storm.

That night, I dreamt of our

ancestors, passing their stories

of wonder and pain, like sand-

bags, from generation to gener-

ation, to give us something to

stand behind in the storms to

Come.

So, when you feel that all you’re

going through is for nothing,

lift your story like a sandbag

and pass it on. It will do more

good than you can know.
