symbolic harmony

You are sitting in quietness. Your eyes are closed. The atmosphere is one of meditation, even of silence, unarticulated prayer. You are re-experiencing the essential movement of your life, allowing it to integrate itself into a new form as it proceeds. Sitting in this stillness with the ongoing flux of your life taking shape within you, let yourself feel the moving unity of it. Maintain your perception of it, feeling the wholeness of it inwardly. You are feeling the reality of your life as a whole. Whatever form your life is taking as it presents itself to you, hold it in your hand. Hold it in your left hand. Symbolically this as though you are placing your life on the left side of you mind. It is your unconscious awareness of life, as your life has been unfolding on the outward level of experience. Now, take in your right hand the combined movements of your sleep dreams and your twilight dreaming. Symbolically within yourself you are holding in your right hand the unified movement of your inner conscious life, and you are holding in your left hand the essential continuity of your outer conscious life. Balance one against the other. When they come into balance, you can ask yourself the question of what the two sides of your life have to say to each other. This is a process of inner life-balancing, of non-analytic self-integration…..Ira Progoff

paradoxes penetrate our relationships and show us where our lines cross….we are not comfortable with distinctions, with fundamental separatism…….yet, we insist on forgetting the wild wisdom of inherent uncertainty……let us move in and around identity as a way to keep it real, let go of the answers, keep the questions….

From the perspective of psyche, metaphor is the root of relatedness, the linking of things, events, and constellations of experience. When our senses are well tuned to affinities, metaphoric ways of seeing become deepened into ways of knowing. Metaphor is a way of being informed by the Other, recognizing and acknowledging the likeness with language. When we redirect our attention from the analytic mind to an intuitive form of sensing, we ‘see into,’ as Goethe said. We develop ‘organs of perception’ by recognizing the mountain for what it is, by letting it reveal itself, its essence with respect to our intuitive thought.Allowing phenomena to speak for themselves, turning ‘toward the world as it is experienced in its felt immediacy,’ is the essence of phenomenology. ‘Gaining perspective’ arises from multiple perceptions and angles, from the coalescing of experience…….Laura Sewall

caged & belonging

We shape our self

to fit this world

and by the world

are shaped again.

The visible

and the invisible

working together

in common cause,

to produce

the miraculous.

I am thinking of the way

the intangible air

passed at speed

round a shaped wing

holds our weight.

So may we, in this life

to those elements

we have yet to see

or imagine,

and look for the true

shape of our own self,

by forming it well

to the great

intangibles about us.

  1. We shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us – Marshal McLuhan. We should always realize that our world is fluid not solid, and our imaginings made form are not fixed quantities. Our own world can change in an instant, by choice or not … Which way is better? Who can say … May the winds of change guide you gently today.

    • well stated…..when we come from the heart, we flow more fluidly within the myriad changes, expectations, diversions and challenges….let it be, let it be….may sweet Sunday bliss honor you today g.f.s….

  2. This which I’ve evolved to be – is but an accumulation of lives, sorrows, change, love………. I cannot separate me from anything I know for it is ALL I know. Although some would say different, I believe everything (every thing) should change us so that always, we are perfected in our imperfection – knowing in our unknowing. My favorite line – letting go the answers, and holding fast the questions. Let us understand and let us forget. Beautiful. ~ Ever, Bobbie

    • your honoring of the soft lines between us speaks of a deeper wisdom… know that change is desirable is a lifetime’s work for most….but I feel sweet in the in-between spaces knowing that I don’t ‘have’ to know….soft lines, soft healing, soft believing, soft stars twinkling….soft soul blessings Bobbie…..
