sidling up to fear

There are a thousand ways our essential nature can be expressed in the world, infinite ways to hold and love the world. If you look at your life from within that sense of the quiet stillness you are, you will see this inner-essence, this innocence, like a bright thread woven throughout the center of your life. It has always been there because it is what you are, and living it consciously is why you are here……Oriah Mountain Dreamer

consider the soul beneath the voice, the heart beneath the choices and the wisdom behind the offerings…..maybe it’s not about happiness, but about living fully……maybe it’s not about knowing, but about living the questions……consider bliss…..

Passing by on the road
They will be drawn to your door
The way that cannot be heard
will be reflected in your voice
The way that cannot be seen
Will be reflected in your eyes

….Lao Tzu

the wild rush of connection

Quality of life is determined by how you deal with your moments, not which moments happen and which don’t. I now consider this truth to be Happiness 101, but it’s amazing how tempting it still is to grasp at control of every circumstance to try to make sure I get exactly what I want. To encounter an undesirable situation and work with it willingly is the mark of a wise and happy person. Imagine getting a flat tire, falling ill at a bad time, or knocking something over and breaking it — and suffering nothing from it. There is nothing to fear if you agree with yourself to deal willingly with adversity whenever it does show up. That is how to make life better. The typical, low-leverage method is to hope that you eventually accumulate power over your circumstances so that you can get what you want more often. There’s an excellent line in a Modest Mouse song, celebrating this side-effect of wisdom: As life gets longer, awful feels softer…..David Cain

When you find the way
Others will find you
Passing by on the road
They will be drawn to your door
The way that cannot be heard
will be reflected in your voice
The way that cannot be seen
Will be reflected in your eyes

Lao Tzu

  1. I love this line ~ “maybe it’s not about knowing, but about living the questions”……… The answers never pull us from sleep; only the asking. Beautiful. ~ Love, Bobbie
