We are an extraverted society. We interpret our lives by external causes and influences and give almost no heed to our interior. And so, in compensation, we fall deep into ourselves, sensing and feeling our souls, by means of depression. Depression is a symptomatic way of remaining in touch with our souls. Your glowing ideas about a spiritual existence need the bitter, salty, and chaotic feelings….Thomas Moore
