What is it to be empowered? There is no doubt that within each and everyone of us there is the potential to connect to a limitless source of energy and resource. There is a path that links our ego understanding with our soul growth.
When we are stuck or overwhelmed we may go into an energetic contraction and may ask: “Why me? Why is this happening to me?” This is completely understandable when we feel blocked and out of control. Cultivating a power shift brings our focus of attention to the inside, so that we start to ask “What is happening in me?” “Am I feeling anger, am I disappointed? Am I feeling hopeless.” “What am I reacting to?”
Tuning into our inner experience with curiosity and compassion is an opportunity to deepen understanding and align us to our soul’s growth. It helps us recognize that true choice lies within.
As we pay attention to what’s happening inside, we can start to respond to areas where we may need to learn, to grow, to heal. Cultivating and harnessing our strengths through attending to our self care is an act of empowerment.

what does it mean to be wounded? maybe it’s really about our stories and our lessons……the ones that break us open for new delights……
This clumsy living that moves lumbering
as if in ropes through what is not done
reminds us of the awkward way the swan walks.
And to die, which is a letting go
of the ground we stand on and cling to everyday,
is like the swan when he nervously lets himself down
into the water, which receives him gaily
and which flows joyfully under
and after him, wave after wave,
while the swan, unmoving and marvelously calm,
is pleased to be carried, each minute more fully grown,
more like a king, composed, farther and farther on.
In truth, everyone alive struggles with how to stay awake. While there are no answers except to stay concerned, that are small clues. One comes from Goethe who says, “Every object will contemplated creates an organ within us.” What a startling shift. He suggests what sages and lovers have known forever; that beholding anything with ultimate care makes it come alive within us. Put simply, embracing the world animates our being. The courage comes in letting go of our understandable resistance to being drawn into the depth of things. Yet if we are to fully live- that is, to let our live outlast our fear- we must die to everything that would keep us from animating our ultimate concern. And still, we must not be harsh with ourselves, for these are surely the most difficult two inches to travel on Earth. ~Mark Nepo
