The most powerful things in life are not meant to be understood. Do you understand God? Why the flowers grow in the meadow? Yes, they grow to procreate, but there is something else going on there. Why procreate? Joy. Living in the meadow has a joy to it. to survive the rigors of the meadow, there must be joy. Ed Abbey, renegade novelist, wrote, “I suspect that the morose and fearful are doomed to quick extinction.Where there is no joy there can be no courage; and without courage all other virtues are useless.” I think they grow, they bloom, in riot of colors in part out of joy. It is a job of the artist to tun into that. Abbey also wrote, “Each in its way, when true t its own character, is equally beautiful.” ~Rod MacIver
where we lose control is where the beauty and the wild vortex of creativity lives……
inquiry for today~ when you fall into the abyss and life becomes messy, can you give over, if only for a moment, to the wild act of your creative heart?
Perhaps the efforts of the true poets, founders, religions, literatures, all ages, have been, and ever will be, our time and all times to come, essentially the same- to bring people back from their present strayings and sickly abstractions, to the costless, average, divine, original concrete. ~Walt Whitman
