The gift of life takes us in contrary directions; we burn with holy longings and we thirst for earthly delights. We stand at one threshold and then at the other. We live in both worlds and must learn to serve them both. We undertake an errand for the divine only to find ourselves back in the common village of life. A door before us opens; in service of something divine and also driven by thirst, we must step through it. In a simple step and a single moment that suddenly become momentous, everything changes. We are swept up in the dance of creation, we give ourselves to it body and soul, as we enter if fully and lose ourselves in it. We become part of it all, and it all seems solid and real and meaningful and necessary.

inquiry for today~ don’t dismiss what is calling for attention…..may you know it’s ok to not know how……this is how faith seeps in around loss……

The cloak of the world is woven with magnificence and limitation, triumph and disappointment, loss and eternal re-creation. To seek some ideal of perfection puts us in conflict with the world.
Forget the tyranny of perfection. The point is not to perfect yourself. It is to perfect your love. Let your imperfections be an invitation to care. Remember that imperfections are deliberately woven into Navajo rugs and treasured in the best Japanese pottery They are part of the art. What a relief to honor your life as it is; in all its beauty and imperfection.
