the wan light of reaching out

You don’t want to hear the story
of my life, and anyway
I don’t want to tell it, I want to listen

to the enormous waterfalls of the sun.

And anyway it’s the same old story – – –
a few people just trying,
one way or another,
to survive.

Mostly, I want to be kind.
And nobody, of course, is kind,
or mean,
for a simple reason.

And nobody gets out of it, having to
swim through the fires to stay in
this world.

~Mary Oliver

there is nothing worth more than the peace I leave behind…

inquiry for today~ tell me a story…..

the fundamentals….

Even when we are in the thick muddiness of our pain, despair, and tenderness,

we can grow through it as long as we are alive and present enough to bear witness.

Then she smiled again, made the most unusual movement with her head before leaving just as suddenly as she had come.
I learned to take her visit to heart. After all: the sacred isn’t some superstition or wishful thinking. It’s simply the way things are.
It’s the only path that lies ahead when we’ve left all our superstitions and every dithering thought behind. Peter Kingsley – Book of Life
