passing by

Emotions are like clouds drifting across the vast sky of your awareness. There is no need to cling to them, nor is there a need to push them away. When anger or sadness arrives in your work or daily life, please take a deep breath and simply recognize: “Ah, this is a cloud passing through.”

Try not to suppress it or chase it away, and try not to let yourself be swept away by its movement. When you rest in this spacious, calm, and accepting awareness, you will find that the weather comes and goes all by itself. By staying mindful and still, you remain the peaceful sky, regardless of what weather moves through you.
