hold tension lightly

A balanced life is based on its own rhythm. If you don’t set your own rhythm, and have the discipline to follow it, your life will move at the speed of the culture around us, which moves too fast.

The space we make for quiet time affects our thought patterns and, in turn, the quality of our lives. If you don’t own your own time, your own life, you don’t own much.

In my journal, I sometimes explore the question,

“To what extent is the rhythm of your life a result of careful thought as opposed to adapting, without thought, to the flow that surrounds?”

we notice our rhythms, our restraints, and our out-of-balances in the winter….ease gentle into the good night…..

We can only experience wonder when we allow ourselves the freedom to lose ourselves in the grandeur and beauty of the world around us. This takes a heightened degree of open-mindedness on our part, particularly if we feel pressured by society to maintain a serious façade. As our spirits are aroused by the loveliness and intensity we encounter, we are reminded that there is more to life than the mundane matters we must attend to each day. With practice, we grow used to the notion that our earthly experiences have the power to guide us toward new areas of insight. Additionally, the awe we feel provides us with a degree of inspiration that helps us become more attuned to our spiritual sides. As you grow increasingly capable of enjoying worldly wonders today, you will discover that enlightenment can come into your existence in many forms.    ~dailyom.com

consider surrender

The maxim “you create your own reality” is the backbone of human consciousness. It’s an essential realization to bring into every aspect of your life. Let me make clear, however, that “creating your reality” is not the simplistic desire to make things do your way; it’s not a Pollyanna-ish view that sugar-coats events. In a moment of synchronicity, events “just happen” to serve our personal needs. Life is governed by the paradox of the divine, which is that while the universe remains an impersonal, mechanistic, and mathematical operating system, each of us is somehow intimately guided. Our intuition is one way that we in Earth School experience divine intervention.    ~Caroline Myss
