How to Regain Your Soul
Come down Canyon Creek on a summer afternoon
that one place where the valley floor opens out.
You will see the white butterflies.
Because of the way shadows come off
those vertical rocks in the west,
there are shafts of sunlight hitting the river & a deep
long purple gorge straight ahead.
Put down your pack.
Above, air sighs the pines. It was this way
when Rome was clanging, when Troy was being built,
when campfires lighted caves. The white butterflies
dance by the thousands in the still sunshine.
Suddenly anything could happen to you.
Your soul pulls toward the canyon
& then shines back through the white wings
to be you again.

the fragile moments of spring remind me of our tender connection to each other, ourselves & the vast surrender needed to live in the most intimate harmony with both…
direct relationship to nature finds us in sync….gathers us to our own wisdom…rediscovers our creative longings, & reminds us where the moon phase is (waxing moon, full on the 8th)…
just walk outside before bedtime…..close your eyes & breathe out the day…breathe in the cold frost down into the bones of your ancestors….
sleep well….
Earth so effectively mirrors our soul powers simply because our souls are elements of earth’s soul. Archetypal forms & patterns exist in the outer world of nature. Earth archetypes. Moving from one archetypal nature identity to another: this is the genius of the shape-shifter within each of us. By becoming earth, through her forms & forces, we regain our souls. As we open ourselves to an element of wildness, we discover a quality of our own soul that longs to be embodied in the world. We see the rainbow, & if we allow our imagination to be generous, we discover the possibility of realizing our fondest dreams, the longing for treasure, the enchantment of the world, the thinness of the shimmering veil that separates us from the sacred, or the bridge to this world for the Gods…..Bill Plotkin

“the fragile moments of spring remind me of our tender connection to each other, ourselves & the vast surrender needed to live in the most intimate harmony with both…”
Powerful ! This is similar to what I wrote of in my most recent blog post (also about spring), and the new hope we can find when we choose to live in such “intimate harmony.”
Would love for you to swing by and check it out:
