the nature of our indomitable fire

Withdraw into yourself and look. And if you do not find yourself beautiful yet, act as does the creator of a statue that is to be made beautiful: he cuts away here, he smoothes there, he makes this line lighter, this other purer, until a lovely face has grown upon his work. So do you also; cut away all that is excessive, straighten all that is crooked, bring light to all that is overcast, labor to make all one glow of beauty and never cease chiseling your statue, until there shall shine out on you from it the godlike splendor of virtue, until you shall see the perfect goodness surely established in the stainless shrine……Plotinus

passionate engagement, the luminous ground and our very real heartache contract and expand within our experiences……fueled by our conscious intention, it all integrates into a beautiful, messy life….may we manifest a fluent and dynamic awareness…..

Deep in the wintry parts of our minds, we are hardy stock and know there is no such thing as work-free transformation. We know that we will have to burn to the ground in one way or another, and then sit right in the ashes of who we once thought we were and go on from there…..Clarissa Pinkola Estes

aligning with the wild & steady fire

Recognizing grace in our lives is a blessing that comes from the curiosity, hope, flexibility, meaning, and gratitude that we regain at the Silver Gate, its shimmering essence carrying the luminous, ghostly, and mesmerizing quality of all that we have not yet experienced. These gifts of renewal can flourish because they keep us connected to the spirit of ‘duende,’ aligned and fed by the four fires (the fire of vision, the fire of the heart, the creative fire, the soul’s fire), creating a sustainable and integrated vitality that arises from the depths of character and wisdom….Angeles Arrien

  1. Since duality is our nature one must be conscious of keeping balance in living. It is easy to be swayed too far toward sadness and depression, as those who live there are more easily controlled … Interesting how knowledge of this is also controlled, defined as ‘new thought’, painted as something to be wary of… why? How can there be new thought? May your daydreams reach into new realms of color today …

    • the only path to non-duality is to not be attached to outcome… be safe in the heart….but of course, that’s not our nature, so we ‘work’ on balance…..funny how depression and non-responsive states are ‘safe’……may you begin from a place today of openness, wonder and joyous risk g.f.s….

  2. Look at the autumn sky. Is it not perfect, and yet, if we take pen to it or paint, we can never quite fit it all in. In the time it takes to paint a rainbow, the shadows shift. In the time it takes to write of a blossom, the leaves die. From the edges, we become. From the edges, that which is perfectly imperfect is realized. In our messy making, we find the colors that suit us best and remember the sunset on the canvas that is our soul ~ changing with every rise.

The Amish go out of their way to make sure they build flaw into everything they create, for to be perfect is to compare themselves to God. For me, I believe God perfect and yet (and yet) He created us. Love was never meant to be anything but new every time (every time). ~ May your light spread from the edges in…… ~ Bobbie

    • I love the wabi sabi way too…..and yes, love can only be new in its imperfect beginnings……that is the true beauty….may each color and poem you create follow you into shadows, and soften expectation….love to you Bobbie
