innate resilience

Your problem is how you are going to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you’re going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are……..Anne Lamott

nothing moves inside of us quite like the expectations and roller coasters of this exquisite ride……we expose our true selves when we insist on a vision for this life, a creation marked with grit and truth……

We hesitate to expose our true selves and to speak up and do the work we’re capable of because we fear we don’t have the power to do so. And yet some people manage to find that power. Creators live in fear of the critic, the sharp-tongued pundit who can take them down with the stroke of a keyboard. Except for those who don’t. The ones who don’t are willing to take the short-term critical hit and then go on to change our culture. Grit is the attitude of someone who realizes he has the power to care and is intent on doing something with it…..Seth Godin

seeking shadows

Nobody told us that what we are is a point of awareness, or pure spirit. This isn’t something we’re taught. Rather, what we were taught was to identify with our name. We were taught to identify with our birth date. We were taught to identify with the next thought that we have. We were taught to identify with all the memories our mind collects about the past. But all that was just teaching: all that was just more thinking. When you stand in your own authority, based in your own direct experience, you meet that ultimate mystery that you are. Even though it may be at first unsettling to look into your own no-thingness, you do it anyway. Why? Because you no longer want to suffer. Because you’re willing to be disturbed. You’re willing to be amazed. You’re willing to be surprised. You’re willing to realize that maybe everything you’ve ever thought about yourself really isn’t true.……Adyashanti
