contemplative ground

The sun shines not on us, but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies.   ~John Muir

your beautiful liveliness in the world has always been needed….

inquiry for today~   how will you feel into a body memory today? one that settles the bones and the enlivens the heart……

our sense of things

The uncanny sense of being inside of the world, even as you are noticing and feeling it all around you. You are not it and it is not you. But neither is the distinction between you and the world entire and complete. there is a dissolving of each into the other. Is this happiness? The capacity and willingness to become small, to acknowledge the primacy of the living world, to open oneself completely to the life of the world, and to do so without any aim beyond the simple pleasure of the gesture itself: such unselfconscious simplicity and innocence can become the foundation of a more responsive and reciprocal way of being in the world. It can also help us to articulate an understanding of what our life in the world means when it is not defined narrowly by the values of utility and purpose. This open, receptive consciousness becomes the ground from which one learns again how to apprehend the world and live in it without calculation or purpose. ~Douglas Christie
