In the second half of life, we have moved from doing to being to an utterly new kind of doing that flows almost organically, quietly, & by osmosis. Your concern is not so much to have what you love anymore, but to love what you have. All of life’s problems & difficulties are now resolved not by force, logical resolution or negativity, but by falling into a larger ‘brightness.’ Gerald Manley Hopkins called it ‘the dearest freshness deep down in things.’ This is falling upward…….Richard Rohr
our lives are a work of art…we sculpt, paint, dance, & write our hearts into a beautifully timed cadence of prayer & discernment……an inner freedom shines light into dark…
we live our paradoxes…we hold our sadnesses a little more gently…. we revel in the many shades of blue in our world rather than despair in the futility of changing the complexities….
the blue moons of our life cast soul shadows into our hearts….
The beauty of embracing deep truths is that you don’t have to change your life; you just change how you live your life. There is no rule that says you have to close. This choice to enjoy life will lead you through your spiritual journey. Unconditional happiness will teach you every single thing there is to learn about yourself & the nature of life…..Michael Singer

I had to cross that threshold to understand the truth of this, now, today, I love more gently and deeply, my words come from a quieter place, and the mystery I had sought with a vengeance is now just a trail I follow that leads me home… Thanks again for your insights (and your nomination)
So wisely & thoughtfully written. The threshold is a beautiful place when met with an open heart, leaving our deepest self-criticisms at the door. Vengeance transformed. Thanks g.f.s…
Beautiful. Eloquently presented. Intensely satisfying. Love the Richard Rohr quote. Thank you. 🙂 ~Paul
Embracing our unique journey….thanks Paul….
I too have discovered it’s more about how I live my life. There’s a sweeter peace in that and not near as tiring. 🙂
Great point! I find a new ease as well as time moves in a different way…sweet peace…thanks Jeannie…
Thanks so much for this insights… truly beautiful and touching 🙂
Many shades of blue to you…thanks Dolly…
Being in the second half of life myself, I appreciate the thoughts in this post. I’ve been reading Rohr’s book and find it very meaningful. As you say, there is a new inner freedom that accompanies the creative and maturing life.
Excellent book isn’t it? So affirming of inner wisdom & honoring the life we have, not the one we wish we had. Thanks Mark…Live in Blessings…
I, too, am in the second half of life, and can relate to this post. My transition was certainly not without numerous challenges of the body and spirit – and in spite of them (or perhaps because of them), I have found a gentle freeing of my inner self that reflects in my writing, my thinking, and in my vision of this continuing journey. Wonderful post! ~ Love, Julie xox
Ahhh…a freeing…letting go into what is…what courage! Love your spirit…thanks Julie….
I agree,it is all about changing the way you lead or live your life. Creativity and ability to see inward frees you. We have a beautiful word in Sanskrit “Nijanand”,which roughly means happiness in one’s own company. I think that leads to satisfaction with life as your expectations go down.
I’m going to make some art using that word! How beautiful…and I very much agree with the need for creativity…thank you Sonali….
