the delicate emptiness….the wild terrain of faith…

faith in the delicate

We need to give ourselves time & space. After such a long time of traveling at warp speed, at the speed of life, we can’t just hit the brakes. So we practice cultivating slowing down. We don’t stop right away. We know we have the capacity to be stable like the mountain, to be clear like the still lake. But maybe at this time my lake is more like a puddle, & that’s okay. As we practice touching stillness with our footsteps. our sitting, with all our activities, our faculty of stillness develops. And when our mind & heart are still & relaxed, we can see things more clearly. Letting go is the beginning of expanding our heart…..Thich Nhat Hanh

nobody is going to tell us to nurture the delicate quiet, the delicate veneer around our heart space….but when we notice the clarity that appears in open space, we see possibility….

like watching the full moon behind the trees….it is clearly there, but only truly possible with faith….

faith…against the rise & fall of this short life…..so delicate are these choices…

awakening to the delicate remembering of you….

The more we stay in witness consciousness, the more calm our minds are. We begin to rest in something larger than thought. Call it awareness. Call it silence. When we rest in the heart, we inhabit the present moment fully. We have a choice of how to feel, what to think, & how to act. As we surrender more & more deeply to the truth of our being, each one of us becomes a channel through which the divine presence flows……Paul Ferrini

    • Inertia is a great description of this space around our ‘striving without moving’ syndrome…..it takes time to slow down inside….something we all have loaded feelings around…..praying for the faith to avoid some of the busy traps….thanks g.f.s…..

  1. I love the quote by Thich Nhat Hanh! I’ve been learning this the hard way – by having my body come to a screeching halt after ‘driving’ it for almost 30 years at breakneck speed. When you develop multiple health issues and become disabled, you have no choice but to slow down and learn how to reconnect with stillness and your inner core (but I wouldn’t advise taking this route to anyone – it’s a hard lesson!). When the world doesn’t stop around you but you find you can’t keep up anymore, you have to make the choice to focus on what is really important in your life, what truly sustains you, and who you really are deep down in your very soul. You learn that it is not your body that defines who you are – it is your heart, your spirit, your compassion and connectedness to all of humanity and the universe itself. It is your ability to love and know that we are all ‘One’. Great post! ~ Julie xoxox
