the labyrinth of loving deeply

wandering in dappled light….

May you be blessed with discomfort at easy answers, half truths and superficial relationships so that you may live deep within your heart. May you be blessed with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace. May you be blessed with tears to shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and turn their pain into joy. And may you be blessed with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in the world so that you can do what others claim cannot be done to bring justice and kindness to all children and the poor…..Francis of Assisi

meaning and purpose is illusory at best…..yet it is visionary with love as our guide…..the harmony of self-awareness frees our mind to unlock the heart… of deeply ingrained patterns of separateness…..this mindfulness is the creative unfolding of the soul….the divine path….

The movement from ‘I’ to ‘we’ leads to love. But not just any love- a different kind of love, one that extends out from yourself to your larger community and beyond. And it is in this love that we can rest with deep contentment and clear purpose and begin to truly live deeply. At the same time that people feel connected to a broader humanity, they also typically experience an enhanced appreciation for their own unique gifts and talents. When you see yourself as a member of a transforming community rather than as a single individual swimming upstream, you’ll worry less about threats to your sense of self- and find yourself naturally being more kind and compassionate to both yourself and others……..IONS

you & me, us & them, I & we, heart & soul…..

The meaning and worth of love, as a feeling, is that it really forces us, with all our being, to acknowledge for another the same absolute central significance which, because of the power of our egoism, we are conscious of only in or own selves. Love is important not as one of our feelings, but as a transfer of all our interest in life from ourselves to another, as the shifting of the very center of our personal lives….Vladimir Solovyov

  1. Thank you for the lovely post. We must all strive to move from a simplistic view, from an either/or sort of thinking, to an inclusive view, a both/and sort of thinking. Your post is a gentle reminder that God is love, that sin is anything that separates us from God or one another, that abundant life is only possible when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable.

    • Beautifully expressed…..thank you for this lovely and poetic accompaniment…indeed, God is love & we are held in our vulnerability…..Blessings to you….
