surrender to serendipitous wanderings

a little soul refreshment….

To pour the sacred water of the beloved upon our spirits we must first, recognize joy as it brushes lightly against our souls, and second, appreciate joy in the moment without trying to snatch it and bury it in the backyard like a bone. William Blake describes this beautifully in his poem,

‘Kiss the Joy as It Flies.’

He who binds to himself a joy

Does the winged life destroy,

But he who kisses the joy as it flies

Lives in eternity’s sunrise.

Daily, joy sits patiently on the sill, gently fanning its wings waiting for us to recognize it. But oblivious or blinded by our own agenda, we sometimes act as C.S. Lewis lamented to a friend, ‘It seems to me that we often, almost sulkily, reject the good that God offers us because, at that moment, we expected some other good.’ Appreciating and then releasing joy allows us, paradoxically, to truly savor it……Sue Patton Thoele

and in that random current of life, a sudden calling and collapse can intervene….like the beloved, we want to please, we want to gift the heart…..fine tuning the senses of perception and breathing into that sacred trust lends a little giddiness to our fear of powerlessness……

Lo, I am with you always means

that when you look for God,

God is in the look of your eyes,

in the thought of looking,

nearer to you than yourself,

or things that have happened to you.

There’s no need to go outside.

Be melting snow.

Wash yourself of yourself.

A white flower grows in the quietness.

Let your tongue become that flower.

the mindful compulsion of the secret heart….

Like a vast and gracious Host, welcome

and say ‘yes’ to this

‘yes’ to this and ‘yes’

to every this

Your true life arrives constantly

when you’ve set up your little shop

at the intersection of Now and Yes

Recognize all things as Emissaries

and Manifestations of a greater and mysterious Will

and all that is as a form of support

(though what is being supported may not be your ego)

When you welcome each present moment

unendingly, time ceases, and you yourself

become part of It, the Divine Presence.

This Presence is subtle and buoyant,

and supports your awareness effortlessly,

the way water holds up a boat.

So let your awareness be vast and inclusive

as if the whole world is taking place

inside your mind. Hear everything,

see everything, feel everything

with this simple greeting on your lips

  1. Yes it is … Feeling the flow of life through us, we become not an island in the stream, rather we learn we are suns and the sacred Ether of Spirit, flows from us and through us, the great electric fire we reveal as life is forever flowing through our one point in this 3D space !

    • beautiful openness to the graces and the uglies…knowing it all has its time….this mysterious way of allowing us to not expect that which we are not ready for….(whether we are ready to accept it or not)….the great electric fire; I think that says it all g.f.s……hope your weekend is full of orange and yellow and blue……
