it doesn’t have to be so hard

It’s entirely conceivable that life’s splendor surrounds us all, and always in its complete fullness, accessible but veiled, beneath the surface, invisible, far away. But there it lies, not hostile, not reluctant, not deaf. If we call it by the right word, by the right name, then it comes. This is the essence of magic, which doesn’t create but calls……Franz Kafka

infinite blue settles into our winter hearts…..calling us a little deeper into reflection…a little less movement, a little more subtle encouragement to fall into the thousand eons of time past…..the wise are wise because they know they don’t know…..we fall in line with our humanness simply to remember our divine source….

If we carefully consider the human soul in its nature, we see two different regions in it: the one belongs to the sensible order, the other to the supersensible or intellectual order. The sensible part of the soul is that which is common to men and animals; it includes the external senses and the internal senses which comprise the imagination, the sensible memory, and the sensitive appetites, whence spring the various passions or emotions which we call sensible love and hatred, desire and aversion, sensible joy and sadness, hope and despair, audacity, fear, and anger. All this sensitive life exists in the animal whether its passions are mild like those of the dove or lamb, or whether they are strong like those of the wolf or lamb. Above this sensitive part common to men and animals, our nature likewise possesses an intellectual part which is common to men and angels, although it is far more vigorous and beautiful in the angel. By this intellectual part our soul towers above the body, this is why we say the soul is spiritual. True intelligence which alone deserves the name of intellect unqualified, is a faculty which, if it not be hindered as a result of insubordination on the part of the lesser faculties, its appointed handmaids, will fly straight to the mark. It does not think; it sees. The catalyzing of this power to see, which everyone bears within himself, whether he be aware of it or not, is the aim of spiritual method, in every man…..Marco Pallis

what do the trees know of one another?

The best time is late afternoon when the sun strobes through the columns of trees as you are hiking up,and when you find an agreeable rock to sit on,you will be able to see the light pouring down into the woods
and breaking into the shapes and tones
of things and you will hear nothing
but a sprig of birdsong or the leafy
falling of a cone or nut through the trees,
and if this is your day you might even
spot a hare or feel the wing-beats of geese
driving overhead toward some destination.
But it is hard to speak of these things
how the voices of light enter the body
and begin to recite their stories
how the earth holds us painfully against
its breast made of humus and brambles
how we who will soon be gone regard
the entities that continue to return
greener than ever, spring water flowing
through a meadow and the shadows of clouds
passing over the hills and the ground
where we stand in the tremble of thought
taking the vast outside into ourselves.

  1. I only learned recently that the Aspens in Colorado grow from the same root system, essentially any large group of trees you see are all related, are the same organism, so it’s easy to extrapolate that they know everything about each other. It is not hard to imagine, after seeing the Sequoia’s that their forests are quite the same. Our interconnectedness is related to our roots, invisible though they may be, the connection is there, and we feel it all, great sadness, great joy, pride and prejudice …Interesting that the Universe does not need our understanding to maintain order, imagine how hard it would be if we had to remember to breathe ?

    • I’ve always felt that the wise are wise because they love. Perhaps it is more about learning to be the person we were always meant to be, but just haven’t yet figured out how. To fall in love with the becoming. Lovely as always, Blue. ~ Bobbie

    • oh this is so encouraging, really it is……and imagine if we all did realize how interconnected we are…..maybe some real global shifts would begin….and isn’t it interesting how more deeply connected we feel when we do focus on our breath…wow…..hugging trees is good…..thanks for this g.f.s…..

  2. I have no idea how my comment became a reply to Peter’s comment…….but so it is (as was meant to be)……. Maybe I was distracted by the thought of being reminded to breathe. Blessings to us all…….. ~ Love, Bobbie

    • ‘falling in love with becoming’…..a perfect Valentine’s sentiment…..I think your comment fit perfectly with g.f.s……for when we are becoming, we ‘become’ in sync with the world around us…..remembering to breathe……happy open heart day Bobbie…..
