The sun asks the inner sun,
How can I see you ?
when you set, I rise, comes the answer.
it does not matter who we are, but rather how we are…..how we love….how we meet ourselves……this original kindness is cleansing, like sunrise, like this sweet new day of surrender….know, for a little while, that we are complete and whole and true…..
I have seen a face with a thousand countenances, and a face that was but a single countenance as if held in a mold.
I have seen a face whose sheen I could look through to the ugliness beneath, and a face whose sheen I had to lift to see how beautiful it was.
I have seen an old face much lined with nothing, and a smooth face in which all things were graven.
I know faces, because I look through the fabric my own eye weaves, and behold the reality beneath.
A time comes in your life when you finally get…when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out…enough! Enough fighting and crying and blaming and struggling to hold on. Then, like a child quieting down after a tantrum, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes. This is your awakening.
You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect and that not everyone will always love, appreciate or approve of who or what you are…and that’s ok. They are entitled to their own views and opinions. You learn the importance of loving and championing yourself…and in the process a sense of newfound confidence is born of self-approval. You stop complaining and blaming other people for the things they did to you – or didn’t do for you – and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected. You make it a point to keep smiling, to keep trusting, and to stay open to every wonderful possibility. Finally, with courage in your heart, you take a stand, you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life you want to live as best as you can. ….Sonny Carroll
