At the beginning of our spiritual journey, we are relatively unfamiliar- and sometimes even uncomfortable- with abiding in the gaze of the contemplative eye. Our practices, both in formal meditation and in mindful awareness throughout the day, are vehicles to its access. The eye of spirit unveils the truth of the way things are. Understandably, this is unsettling to an ego long familiar with denial and unexamined assumptions. The eye of spirit shatters paradigms and, initially, we can experience suffering with the shattering. As we continue to evolve spiritually, we grow in our recognition that, in fact, the closer we are to truth, the less we suffer. Our relationship with the truth transforms as we awaken. We take heart as we begin to see that what we experience as longing is actually grace calling us. We take heart as we recognize that our practice, in itself, is a manifestation of grace. ~Kathleen Dowling Singh
do you notice how time shifts your desires into a messier and less conceptualized path?
inquiry for today~ how do you define your longing toward presence and union?
Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.
