vignettes & still life

Spirituality is the art of transfiguration. We should not force ourselves to change by hammering our lives into any pre-determined shape. We do not need to operate according to the idea of a pre-determined program or plan for our lives. Rather, we need to practice a new art of attention to the inner rhythm of our days and lives. If you work with a different rhythm, you will come easily and naturally home to yourself. Your soul knows the geography of your own destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you attend to yourself and seek to come into your presence, you will find exactly the right rhythm for your life.    ~John O’Donohue

like the vignettes of our lives……we seek out heart space….

inquiry for today~   what is fluid and most consistent today?

I know I can get so caught up in planning, in trying to have some measure of control in my life, that I can forget about the process itself. Spirituality is primarily about process, about the journey itself rather than the end goal. We are invited to tend to and celebrate the process of our becoming. The tides teach us to witness our own rising and falling, just like the sun’s rising and setting does, and to make space for the movement of both in our lives. Being organic means allowing your own process to unfold. We encounter our stumbling blocks and resistances, our joys and hopes, our fears, what makes us feel passionate, vital, and alive. Welcome them all in as wise guides.    ~Christine Valters Paintner
