floating up to heaven in divine discomfort…..

There is, apart, from mere intellect, in the make-up of every superior human identity, a wondrous something that realizes without argument…..an intuiton of the absolute balance, in time and space, of the whole of this multifariousness, this revel of fools, and incredible make-believe and general unsettledness, we call the world; a soul-sight of that divine clue and unseen thread which holds the whole congeries of things, all history and time, and all events, however trivial, however momentous, like a leashed dog in the hands of the hunter…….Walt Whitman

we can wish for transcendence and integration….but we miss them through the wanting…catching it is a little like seeing the fireflies…are they there? did you see them?….ascension is simply letting the heart float up…..like balloons in a sunny sky…

waiting for the extraordinary awakening of now….

At the end of all things, the blessed will say,

‘We never lived anywhere but in heaven.’

….C.S. Lewis

Many of us have this feeling that we want to transcend something. We feel that things are not totally ok the way that they currently are. This desire to transcend is common and pervades the hearts of spiritual practitioners across all sacred traditions. We feel that desire and go to a temple, a church, or an ashram to help us transcend. It is of course a beautiful desire. It turns out to be quite ironic because everything we want to transcend doesn’t really exist in the ultimate sense. It only exists as our own mind’s display. That is all we have to remember; the very thing that we are trying to transcend is in fact our mind’s own creation. We just realize that and get over everything. When we know how to enter the realm of crazy love, true transcendence is realized right there. Crazy love loves everything. Love without boundaries, crazy love, is sacred perception. When we know how to live there while we are alive, then we have discovered the greatest spiritual secret……Anam Thubten

  1. Yes, we seek transcendence and find the old paradigm of living outside the world, in the abbey, or the ashram is no longer relevant. We learn to live our lives and transcend our fears, then we come to know we live in our own heaven… We cannot hide from change… A universe in motion implies that change is the constant in life, to attempt to live without it is to hide from the truth…

    • There’s plenty for us to want to transcend isn’t modern life isn’t there? Retreating to my studio, a beach walk, my books and prayer is vital….. to have the equanimity to face the truth, to learn that fear is just fear, and to witness a bit of this ‘crazy love’ for life…..a sweet Sunday to you g.f.s…..

  2. Perhaps fear is the opposite of love, rather than hate. When we let go of our fear, our hearts swell with love and all is good in the world. Our faith tradition matter not. To say our way is God’s way is nothing more that idolatry, presuming we know the mind of God. Let all who seek draw near, let love without fear transform the world.

    • I think this is a very wise comment….allow love, always allow love…..beautiful to witness an open heart, honoring fear, but releasing…..with gratitude in sharing the sacred seeking……

  3. Yes that’s it! Crazy love… that is what weaves it all together. And it is the gateway of liberation. Great quotes, Walt is one of my favorite prophets
