false divisions

Spirituality is the art of transfiguration. We should not force ourselves to change by hammering our lives into any pre-determined shape. We do not need to operate according to the idea of a pre-determined program or plan for our lives. Rather, we need to practice a new art of attention to the inner rhythm of our days and lives. If you word with a different rhythm, you will come easily and naturally home to yourself. Your soul knows the geography of your own destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you amend to yourself and seek to come into your presence, you will find exactly the right rhythm for your life. ~John O’Donohue

we evolve according to the tides of our lives, our archetypal gleanings, and our hopes…….eyes wide open…..

Being organic means allowing your own process to unfold. It means allowing the rise and fall of your own energy and desires. It means to hold plans and expectations lightly and notice where your energy and prayer are taking you. It means being open to the subtle ways that God shapes and transforms us moment by moment, listening deeply for the call of the Spirit leading us forward into our lives. This kind of awareness of what simply is in a given moment is a means of discovery. In listening, we discover new things about ourselves and about who God is forus. We encounter our stumbling blocks and resistances, our joys and hopes, our fears, what makes us feel passionate, vital, and alive. Welcome them all in as wise guides. ~Christine Valters Paintner

from earth to heaven

May what I do flow from me like a river,

no forcing and no holding back,

the way it is with children.

Then in these swelling and ebbing currents,

these deepening tides moving out, returning,

I will sing you as no one ever has,

streaming through widening channels

into the open sea.

  1. “all streams flow to the sea because it is lower than they are. humility gives it its power. if you want to govern the people, you must place yourself below them. if you want to lead the people, you must learn how to follow them.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

    • humility is a continual reminder to ourselves that the ego is not our true self….we can always come back to a gentler, more humane spaciousness……a subtle poem g.f.s…..
